A little fourwheeling

Back in December of 2007 I purchased the SUV I’ve always wanted, a vintage Toyota Land Cuiser, FJ40. This 1969 Land Cruiser was exactly what I was looking for. Of course not knowing a lot about cars, it wasn’t in the condition that expected it to be. After some money and time spent getting it where I wanted it, the summer hit – and with no air conditioning it sat parked.

But I finally managed to get it out on onto the trails this month. A short run over Table Mesa Road was a lot of fun. The cruiser performed really well,  making short work of the obstacles on the trail. The weather was perfect, and the trail ended up in the Carefree area, where we stopped for a late lunch after the run.

Of course a few things shook loose, and it was back to work on the beast after the ride, but it’s good to be getting some use out if.

Jeremy- you’ve got a great looking truck! I’ve got a ’75 FJ40 that I’m about ready to paint. I love the color on yours. I’ve looked at several dune beige trucks, but yours appears to be somewhat darker, more earthy. Are you sure its 416 dune beige? Or is it just your camera that’s giving it that tint? Anyway, your color looks better than the other dune beiges I’ve seen online. I’d love mine to come out looking like yours. BTW- I’m way over here in Florida, so I dont think ours would ever be confused! I like your interior finish too. Is that Durabak black rough texture? Once again, you’ve got a great looking cruisr, but I’m curious about the paint code. Thanks- David BTW- mine sits on 33×10.50 BFG MTs and stock grey steelies. 4″ lift with standard length A/I shackles. Got a front bumber very similar to yours (from Cool Cruisers), and we’re gonna weld up a custom bumper for the rear and attach framework to hold the rear tire and Hi-Lift jack.
