My FJ40

This is my 1968 Toyota Land Cruiser – FJ40. I purchased it in December, 2007 here in Arizona.

It’s been fun to run some of the trails here in Arizona – both with the various Land Cruiser clubs, as well as on our own. There’s a lot of beautiful areas in Arizona that can only be accessed by 4 wheel drive – and the FJ40 is a fun way to do it.

TCLA – Toyota Land Cruiser Association – a national group that publishes a great magazine about Land Cruisers – the magazine alone is worth the price of membership

AZLCA – Arizona Land Cruiser Association – a very friendly club that does lots of trail runs and tech meetings, I’ve learned a lot from hanging out with these guys

The Truck

It’s a bit of of a rough way to travel with almost no modern luxuries in the truck. That said, it’s a tough vehicle and is getting close to where I want it to be, after some some traumas.

For the most part it’s a stock 1968 FJ40, thought it has some upgrades.

Upgrades In Progress

I recently purchased a new set of axles for the truck. The rear is a full floating axle, imported from Australia and is setup for disc brakes – using Monte Carlo calipers and Chevy truck discs. The new front axle is out of a later model FJ40 and is also set up for disc brakes. Both axles will be getting ARB differential lockers as well. They’re currently being setup on the truck.
